Selena Gomez has revealed the inspiration for her cut-glass English accent in her latest film Monte Carlo – new mum Victoria Beckham.
The 18-year-old toiled for hours with a vocal expert to spice up her clipped tones for the role as a down-to-earth girl who masquerades as a spoilt British heiress while holidaying in Europe.
“We wanted (the accent) to be almost very Victoria Beckham, kind of very posh and sophisticated,” Selena said.
“I had a coach for two weeks before the film, so I worked with her very closely and then we had her on set with me guiding me.”
